AmiciMusic presents “Violin Virtuoso” with Roseminna Watson, violin and Daniel Weiser, piano.
AmiciMusic continues its award-winning Classical Music series with a program of great music for violin and piano featuring a phenomenal young violinist coming up from Austin, TX.  Rosey (as she is known) grew up in Hanover, NH, where she performed with AmiciMusic Artistic Director Daniel Weiser when she was only twelve years old.  She has since studied music at Yale, San Francisco Conservatory, and SUNY at Stony Brook, became first violinist of the Aiana String Quartet that won a prize at the prestigious Coleman International Chamber Music Competition, and ultimately settled in Austin, where the quartet was in residency at U.T Austin.  On this concert, the duo will perform the lush Violin Sonata by Gabriel Faure as well as an early Sonata by Beethoven and short works by Kreisler and Gershwin.

Daniel Weiser

Daniel Weiser, pianist and founder of AmiciMusic, has been presenting intimate chamber music concerts around the country since 2001.  He has been described as the “ultimate musical Impresario” and a “force of pianistic energy.”  He founded AmiciMusic while living in Asheville in 2011 and has since moved to Baltimore, where he has continued performing these intimate shows.  He started piano at age five, but tried to avoid a life in music by studying American History at Columbia University and spending a year at Harvard Law School at the same time as former President Obama.  Ultimately, he could not escape the musical pull and received his Masters and Doctorate at the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University in Piano/Chamber Music.  He was the 1996 U.S. Artistic Ambassador of Music, for which he and violinist Tim Schwarz were sent by the State Depr. on an eleven-country, two month tour of concerts and Masterclasses to the Middle East and Southeast Asia, including concerts in Syria, Pakistan, Egypt, Israel, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and more.   He has taught music at Dartmouth College, St. Paul’s School, UNC Asheville, and Johns Hopkins.  He now lives in Baltimore with his wife, Dr. Kisha Weiser, and their twin eleven-year old girls, Emma and Sophie.

Roseminna McLeod Watson

Roseminna McLeod Watson is the former first violinist of the Aiana String Quartet, among other things. At the age of three she began work on the violin and one year later finally acknowledged her need for some help with the endeavor. Her mother, Clyde Watson, taught her for the following six years until she went on to study at the New England Conservatory’s Preparatory School with Melba Sandberg and Magdalena Richter. After earning a B.A. in Graphic Design from Yale University in 2005, Roseminna continued her musical studies at Stony Brook University where she completed a Masters in Violin Performance while studying with Ani Kavafian, Pamela Frank, Phillip Setzer, Phillipe Graffin, and Soovin Kim. In 2009, Roseminna performed the Berg Violin Concerto with the Stony Brook Symphony orchestra as a winner of the 2008/2009 Concerto Competition.  In 2010, she completed an Artist’s Diploma in Chamber Music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she studied violin with two-time Naumberg winner, Ian Swenson, and had the opportunity to collaborate in performance with numerous faculty members and guest artists including Jean-Michel Fonteneau, Axel Strauss, Paul Hersh, David Tanenbaum, Jennifer Culp, Jodi Levitz and Menahem Pressler. Roseminna joined the Aiana String Quartet in 2010, as first violinist. The quartet won the String Prize at the Coleman International Chamber Music Competition in 2011 and was awarded the position of Scholarship Quartet in Residence at San Diego State University.  The Quartet went on to become the Young Professional String Quartet in Residence at the Butler School of Music at UT Austin under the mentorship of the Miró Quartet. Since the Aiana String Quartet’s amicable dissolution in 2013, Roseminna has been rebalancing her energy, reconnecting with her deep calling as a musician, artist, and writer, and allowing new channels to be opened in all realms of her being. She is ecstatic to have recently launched the performance entity, MOHINYA, that will continue developing as an integration of all aspects of her creative self.
