In today's musical landscape, Widad is a breath of fresh air. Real. Honest. Warm. She's not dumbing it down. Her songwriting treads in deep territory: striking, vulnerable, full of old truths, exposing life and secrets of the heart, but wrapped up in a sweetness that softens the sting.
After honing her talent on stages playing rock, pop, solo folk and with big bands, Widad came back to her roots with her last record "Warriors of Love" stripping back the sound: acoustic guitar, upright bass, laid back drums, her voice telling you the story. A 2015 Emerging Artist for Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Camela has opened for artists such as America, Chuck Prophet, David Lindley, Willy Porter, Della Mae and played the Birchmere Music Hall, Club Passim, The Tin Angel among festivals, house concerts, dive bars, and the occasional rest stop when a new song hits. She is currently in pre-production for her new album being released in 2019 and planning a tour to support the new work.
