MAHEC’s Global Health Initiatives:
For over 20 years MAHEC has been working with an organization that its CEO, Dr. Jeff Heck, started – “Shoulder to Shoulder.” MAHEC family medicine doctors, family medicine residents and medical students have been serving one of the most impoverished regions in Honduras through outreach medical, educational, agricultural, and dental programs. We have a long-term relationship with the region of Intibuca where Shoulder to Shoulder supports the care of over 70,000 people annually. Proceeds from this fundraiser will help support our medical outreach programs in Honduras and in Tanzania where MAHEC’s OB colleagues focus on improving maternal health disparities.
